About Me

I’m addicted to building things from scratch. My most exciting days start with a napkin drawing, and end up with something being built, fixed, modified, or hacked. Like most of my type, it started young. This was when I began dismantling all the things around the house to see what was inside – how they worked. Sounds rad, but my parents weren’t happy that they didn’t always [::cough::] never got put back together.

But I kept Trying.
                        Learning.
                                      Being Curious.

This curiosity ultimately led me to where I am today. A good portion of my professional life has been spent on or behind a stage, providing sound, lighting, projection, automation, wireless control, or my spectacular personality (really, you should meet me sometime) to entertain audiences.

In 2016, I became a product design engineer for a medical device manufacturer after the president of the company found videos of some automated theatrical props I built and called me to join his R&D team. While this was my first entry into full-time product design, over time I have found my passion to be the creation of magical props and effects for theater and interactive design. My goal is to join a team of like-minded creatives, building the biggest creations for the largest audiences, or to do free-lance design consulting for big dreamers with small budgets.

While I do not have a degree in engineering, I do have an intense drive to figure out how things work, the ability to quickly find the resources needed to solve problems with which I am unfamiliar, and the creativity to step outside the box to find viable solutions within budgets and deadlines.
